The European Public Health Association (EUPHA) is an umbrella organisation for public health associations and institutes in Europe.
The section Health Workforce Research (HWR) aims to serve as a network of all researchers who are interested in health workforce issues. It seeks to advance capacity building, knowledge exchange and networking to build health workforce as an independent, interdisciplinary and multi-professional field. This includes better research funding, new academic education programmes, comparative methodology and knowledge transfer and leadership that can help countries to build a people-centred and sustainable future health workforce.
The Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine (IHMT) is an Unit of the NOVA University of Lisbon, which aims to develop scientific knowledge of health problems related to the tropical and intertropical environment.
Created on 1902, was initially dedicated to the study, teaching and clinic of tropical diseases. This performance has evolved into an integrated approach, ranging from the molecular level to global health systems, with a strong commitment to solving health problems that affect the poorest and the most excluded, on all continents.
IHMT is recognized, nationally and internationally, for its history but also for the scientific quality of postgraduate education, research and contribution to cooperation for the development of health in Portuguese-speaking African countries and Timor-Leste. The quality of its intervention was recognized by the World Health Organization when it was given the status of collaborating center for Health Workforce Policies and Planning.

The European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies supports and promotes evidence-based health policy-making through comprehensive and rigorous analysis of the dynamics of health-care systems in Europe. It engages directly with policy-makers and experts, and works in partnership with research centres, governments and international organizations to analyse health systems and policy trends. The Observatory is a partnership, hosted by WHO/Europe, which includes other international organizations; national and regional governments; other health system organizations and academia.
